01 About Wayne Scott-Fox

Wayne Scott-Fox is a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, trading under his own name. The business is not a limited company, is not incorporated, and has no legal identity separate from Wayne as an individual. Through waynescottfox.com, Wayne runs the Wayne Scott-Fox AI Innovations Lab.

Wayne is responsible for waynescottfox.com and for the decisions described in this policy about which technologies are used on it.

This policy covers only cookies and similar storage and access technologies. How personal data is collected, used and protected, including contact form submissions and hosting logs, is explained in the separate Privacy Notice published on waynescottfox.com.

How to contact Wayne

Wayne does not publish a postal address or telephone number on the website. Questions about this policy can be sent using the contact form on waynescottfox.com.

02 What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are

A cookie is a small file that a website can place on a visitor's device to store information, such as a preference or a record that the visitor has used the site before. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage, which let a site store information directly in the browser, and other methods that store or read information on a visitor's device.

Server logs are different

A server log is a record the website's hosting servers keep of the requests they receive, such as which page was requested and when. Server logs do not store or read anything on your device, so a server log is not a cookie or similar technology for the purposes of this policy. Server logs can still include personal data, such as an IP address, and the Privacy Notice explains how they are handled.

The law

UK law on cookies and similar technologies is set out in the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. Where a cookie or similar technology also involves personal data, UK GDPR applies to that processing as well, as explained in the Privacy Notice.

The website contact form does not require Wayne to place a cookie on your device. What happens to the name, email address and message you submit is explained in the Privacy Notice.

Hosting logs

The website is hosted by Netlify, whose servers record standard technical information about each request in hosting logs. As explained in Section 02, these logs are not cookies. The Privacy Notice covers them in detail.

05 Strictly Necessary and Exempt Technologies

Since 5 February 2026, PECR has recognised a wider set of exceptions to the consent requirement, introduced by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. The main exceptions are:

  • Strictly necessary: technology needed for security, fraud prevention, preventing technical faults, authentication, remembering a visitor's selections, or delivering a service the visitor has directly requested.
  • Communication: technology used solely to transmit a communication over a network.
  • Statistical purposes: technology used solely to understand how a website is used in order to improve it, provided visitors are given clear information and a way to object. If any condition is not met, consent is required in the ordinary way.
  • Appearance or functionality: technology used to adapt a website to a visitor's preferences.
  • Emergency assistance.

waynescottfox.com does not use any cookie or browser storage for statistical, analytics, advertising, profiling or tracking purposes. Any technology used purely to make the site work, keep it secure or provide something a visitor has asked for falls within the strictly necessary exception and does not require consent.

Relying on an exception removes the need for PECR consent. Where the technology involves personal data, UK GDPR still applies, as explained in the Privacy Notice.

06 Browser Controls

You can view, delete or block cookies and other site data through your browser settings at any time, usually on a site-by-site basis. These controls are normally found in the browser's privacy or security settings. Blocking all site data may affect how some websites behave.

Browser settings change between versions, so your browser's own help pages are the most reliable guide to the current options.

08 Changes to This Policy

Wayne will update this policy whenever a cookie or similar technology is added, changed or removed, or when the law changes. Where a change introduces a technology that requires consent, the updated policy and an appropriate consent mechanism will be in place before that technology is used. Changes are not applied to visits that have already taken place.

The current version is published on waynescottfox.com, and the date of the last update is shown on the cover. Please refer to the published version rather than a saved or printed copy.

09 Contact and Relationship With the Privacy Notice

This Cookie Policy sits alongside the Privacy Notice, which is the main document explaining how Wayne collects, uses, shares and protects personal data, and which sets out your data protection rights and how to complain. Where a cookie or similar technology involves personal data, the Privacy Notice governs that processing, and this policy does not vary the position set out there. This policy does not form part of any contract.

Questions about this policy, or about cookies and similar technologies on waynescottfox.com, can be sent using the contact form on waynescottfox.com. If any part of this policy is unclear, Wayne is happy to explain it in plain terms on request.
